In 1707 Avander surveyed Pärnämäki and Tolvasniemi in Joutsa and in 1711 the villages of Kintaus and Vesanka. It was tragic that the Russians captured him in the same year during the Great Hate and he was not seen again. Some of Avander's maps were also taken by the Russians. These maps are now kept in the archives of St. Petersburg.
