The maps produced in the 18th century were many and varied. Apart from taxation and geographical maps, military maps were drafted too. These reconnaissance maps were produced from the 1730s onwards. The last set of reconnaissance maps was compiled in 1776-1804. It has also been published as the "King's Atlas". In Central Finland the maps extend just north of Jyväskylä, making the Rural Municipality of Jyväskylä the northernmost area.
